Philippine- Australia Friendship Day 2018 - Celebrating Fil-Aussie Friendship In Davao City

The Australian Embassy in the Philippines wants to bring the celebration to a different city each year since it's proclamation in 2016. This year they headed down south to Davao City. In celebration of the longstanding and close friendship between the Philippines and Australia, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio issued on May 15 a proclamation declaring May 21 to 27 as Philippine-Australia Friendship Week in Davao City.

The week-long celebration opened on 21 May in Davao City Hall with a proclamation of Philippines-Australia Friendship Week, and will culminate in a three-day festival and concert at SM Lanang Premier on the weekend of 25-27 May. The weekend festival at SM Lanang Premier will feature booths by Australia-educated entrepreneurs; booths from Australian universities; and a visa information session led by the Embassy’s Chief Immigration Officer.

The delegation also got a taste of Davao through Agri-Tourism. The Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Amanda Gorely and her delegation visited, Malagos Chocolate Museum, the KVT Farm and Nursery at Catalunan Grande, and Cacao City the very first retail outlet solely focused on showcasing the different cacao and chocolate products made in Davao.

The meet and greet activity is part of the Philippine Australia Friendship Week. It also aims to showcase Davao City as one of the country's farm tourism destinations.
